World International School
World International School (WIS) opened in September 2000 on the Waterloo campus of BEPS, situated conveniently south of Brussels on the main road to Waterloo. BEPS provides classes for children aged 2½ to eleven years. WIS, working in close association with BEPS, offers an innovative and individually-tailored middle-school program for 11 to 16 year olds.
The campus comprises five buildings, including a superb gymnastics hall and sports center, with 14 classrooms, play and green areas and parking. The classrooms are spacious and purpose-built and class sizes do not exceed 16 pupils. The gymnastics hall is of international standard and has seating for 300 people.
The curriculum is designed to prepare the school for full participation in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Program (MYP), which is for pupils who wish to pursue an international education. All the major subject areas are taught by specialist teachers, including French, music, and art. Sports and outdoor activities play an important role in developing the pupils' physical and mental well-being.
A door-to-door bus service is in place. The mini-buses are fitted with seat belts and the drivers are carefully selected.
Admission is based on previous school records and an interview with the parents and student. Scholarships based on need are available.
