143 students, 10-19 yrs.

Buckswood School is a private, non-sectarian day and boarding school for girls and boys. It was established in 1978 to provide an international environment in south east England, with emphasis on traditional values and standards.

The Buckswood School follows the British system, taking day girls and boys and boarders from ten years old. Children are prepared for the GCSE and GCE 'A' level exams.

There are two divisions within Buckswood School: Senior School for pupils aged 10 or older; and EFL Department for overseas pupils whose first language is not English who need expert, intensive tuition in English as a foreign language. This is available at various levels from beginner to post-intermediate, as well as a one year, pre-university course which enables students to reach the necessary standards for entry to higher education.

The Buckswood School enjoys the benefits of having a qualified teaching staff. Emphasis is placed on providing small classes - on average 14 per class - so that each pupil receives a high degree of personal attention. These are made up of more than 26 different nationalities. Whilst most children come to complete their secondary education, some will come specifically to learn English and then return home. Other languages taught as native tongue to GCSE and 'A' level include: Arabic, Chinese, Norwegian, Turkish, French, Spanish, German, Greek, Italian and Dutch.

The Buckswood School year is from September to end June. Classes run from Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00 and Saturday 09:00 to 12:00. An extra-curricular programme takes place weekdays, after classes.

The Buckswood School occupies a manor house set in twenty hectares of grounds on the outskirts of Hastings, a seaside Sussex town. Facilities include horse riding stables, open air swimming pool, tennis courts, basket ball court, four-hole golf course, bikes and large grounds for football, rugby, hockey and cricket. Sports and activities play an important part of a Buckswood Education.
