Lincoln Community School was founded in 1968 and is a private, not-for-profit college preparatory, international school. English is the language of instruction. Classes are offered from pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school year is divided into two semesters and additionally into quarter marking periods.

The curriculum at Lincoln Community School is international and multi-cultural with emphasis on inquiry and problem solving. It is designed to ensure an easy transition into other international schools. The curriculum is rigorous and challenging. Special classes in art, music, physical education, theatre and technology are offered. English as a Second Language and special needs programs are available. All students are required to enroll in French.

The teaching methodology at Lincoln Community School, an American approach, is both positive and proactive. Using the school motto 'raising to a higher standard' as a guiding principle, the school is convinced that all students can achieve beyond their original expectations through being challenged, working hard and the faculty's genuine belief in their ability to do so.

Because Lincoln Community School believes that learning is a lifelong process and that quality education prepares students to be responsible citizens, community service is an essential part of the school's program for full emotional, intellectual, physical and social development. Students are required to give back to the community in service and time. N-5th grade students complete 20 hours of a group project on campus. Grades 6-10 are required to complete 35 hours and grades 11 and 12 are required to complete 150 total hours during their junior and senior years.

Currently 460 students from 50 countries attend the Lincoln Community School. Twenty-four percent are Ghanaians, 23% are Americans and 53% are from other countries. The maximum student to teacher ratio is 20:1. There are 40 students in the class of 2004. Ninety-five percent of students go on to college or university. Ninety percent study in American colleges and universities. The remaining eight percent choose to work or travel for a year prior to entering college.
