Dasman Model School
The Dasman Model School (DMS) was founded in 1996 to provide a high quality bilingual education. Currently there are students from KG to grade 10, though the school aims to expand to university entrance.
Dasman Model School offers an American Curriculum as well as Ministry requirements in Arabic and Islamic studies. All staff are fully certified teachers in their field with a minimum of two years' experience.
The Kindergarten consists of three levels CDC - KG 1 and KG 2 (2½ - 5 ½) with a graded programme offered in the pre-school skills of reading, writing and number.
The students are offered specialist lessons in music, computer, swimming, PE and Arabic.
The Elementary Department, grades 1-5, continues the bi-lingual programme with homeroom teachers concentrating on language, arts, science and mathematics. All other subjects are taught by specialist subject teachers.
The Middle School Department programme, grades 6-8, is taught purely by specialist teachers. A secondary section opened in September 2002, starting from grade 9.
Dasman Model School has a fully self-contained Special Needs Department within the main school. Students are taught in small classes by highly qualified specialist teachers and follow individual programs. The Department has the services also of three fully trained speech therapists, a physiotherapist, an education psychologist and a counselor on site. It strives to maintain close links with regular education and ESL classes. The older Special Needs students move on into vocational training, and this department is undergoing accreditation.
Overall the Dasman Model School follows a policy of integration. An active extra-curricular programme is in place and pupils also participate in visits and outings. And inter-schools sports and arts competitions.
The entire school is accredited by CIS and NEASC.
