Moscow International Gymnasia is a bilingual school founded in 1996
on the basis of the Moscow English Grammar School.
The Moscow International Gymnasia uses the Primary Years Programme
of the International Baccalaureate Organisation with a full academic
programme, activities and encouragement of self-discipline. There
is a strong ESL programme for small sets in all except the final
years and also provision for students with special educational needs.
The majority of students have English as their first language. Moscow
International Gymnasia aims to combine the best aspects of a Russian
State Secondary School with the IB curricula, resulting in a school
with flexibility and freedom based on the UN diplomatic principles.
A well-established afterschool activities programme includes sports,
art, music, dance, computer and other activities.
The qualified teachers come from Russia and other countries, holding
university degrees and certificates of education, and have an average
of 20 years' teaching experience.
The Moscow International Gymnasia year runs from early September
to late June, Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 15:00. It also offers an
after-school programme until 18:00.
There are two libraries, one for primary and one for the secondary
school. The Gymnasia is currently working on a plan to increase
and update its facilities.
Admission to Moscow International Gymnasia is dependent on interview
tests and reports from previous schools.
